Inquiring minds want to know: How many limes were sacrificed to make this cocktail dress?
About 250, said designer Kimie Sako, as she gingerly lifted the nearly completed dress - made from Tequila
labels and braided lime rinds - from an ice-packed cooler just before showtime. "It has to stay as cold as
possible so it will look fresh on the runway," she said.
Sako and her designer partner, Stephanie Verriè€res, along with
Ashley Miller, bartender at Tres Agaves restaurant, teamed up to
create the margarita-inspired dress with a corset bodice made from
75 Tequila labels and fringy lime-rind skirt for "Toast of the Town,"
the Golden Gate Restaurant Association's annual benefit bash.
